Informatica™ has data warehouse and integration solutions that do an adequate job
of managing batch processes from within, however, they are not optimized for all
enterprise-wide scheduling requirements. The native scheduler within Informatica cannot
set dependencies outside Informatica processes and operations staff cannot view or interact
with Informatica processes in real-time. Custom made by Tidal Consulting Services for an

between Tidal Enterprise Scheduler™ and Informatica. Together, they provide organizations

Tidal makes it simple for Informatica users to view output and logs, which include
detailed request status information, from one scheduling interface.
How It Works
The Enterprise Adapter for Informatica is an API-level integration solution. The Enterprise
Adapter can reside on any Windows® machine and uses an environment file to connect
to the Informatica repository. The Informatica server and repository can be on any machine
in the data center that Informatica supports.
The security, user names and passwords set up in Informatica are observed by the
Enterprise Adapter. The creation of an Informatica job from within Tidal Enterprise
Scheduler is as simple as creating any other job.
A Tidal job definition defines the internal request set information defined within
Informatica and is used by the Enterprise Adapter to launch the Informatica request. Once
the request is made to Informatica, the Enterprise Adapter monitors the process until it
completes. The Enterprise Adapter also captures the Informatica process exit code, returns
it to Tidal Enterprise Scheduler and provides additional log information about the request.
In addition, the Connector allows you to maintain complete control over each request that
is launched. The request can be cancelled, aborted or rerun from Tidal Enterprise Scheduler,
a feature that provides extensive user control over the environment.
The Enterprise Adapter launches processes based on defined calendars and schedules as
well as monitoring and controlling those processes as they execute. In addition, the
Enterprise Adapter provides error control and failure notification to enhance the overall
business processes that drive an organization's data processing requirements.
The Enterprise Adapter leverages Tidal Enterprise Scheduler's cutting edge job scheduling
technology to feed into Informatica's data warehousing products.
By taking advantage of the Enterprise Adapter, organizations can create a job definition
to manage the most simple or the most complex request sets defined within the Informatica
data integration environment. Tidal Enterprise Scheduler allows you to develop process
streams and manage the information flow from a centralized console, thereby giving users
greater control over all aspects of an Informatica PowerCenter or DataMart job stream.
Tidal Enterprise Scheduler provides virtually unlimited flexibility in developing
process streams. Also, you can develop complex job streams that utilize the Enterprise
Adapter to merge any system process and ERP application process into a cohesive, centrally
managed job stream. This provides error detection, correction and management across the
enterprise. Since the Informatica request set is defined like any other Tidal Enterprise
Scheduler job, users can take full advantage of job dependencies, file dependencies,
variable dependencies, calendars, events and email notifications.
